FROM RARE LUNAR ECLIPSE TO THE UNIVERSE’S LARGEST VENDING MACHINE

Fanta needed to drive trial of its new formula on an intergalactic scale.

We leveraged the media attention and excitement around a rare lunar eclipse that made the boring grey moon giant and orange, to create the universe’s largest vending machine–visible to over one billion people worldwide.

We launched the social activation the night of the eclipse, with influencers building hype to the giant orange moon in the sky. Then we chimed in across channels as Fanta, proclaiming to the world that the orange moon…was in fact The Fanta Moon. For that night only, anybody could take a photo of the orange moon and share it with a tag #FantaMoon to get a redeemable promo at participating McDonald’s and 7Elevens.

RESULTS

The results were out of this world, far exceeding benchmarks for prior trial promotions. Over 5 Million+ likes across Facebook and Instagram.
